legal vs. illegalMarijuana Reform Reaching Tipping Point

As reported in The Hill, nine states are preparing to vote on legalizing marijuana in November. Arizona, California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada will be voting on legalizing marijuana for adult recreational use. While Arkansas, Florida, Montana, and Missouri will be voting on legalizing medical marijuana.

Aaron Smith, Director of the National Cannabis Industry Association, commented that “What we have now on our side is actual experience in states like Colorado and Washington. Now voters can actually see how these programs are working in these states. Before, there were prophecies of doom and gloom.” Not only are more people voting on marijuana reform than ever before, these measures are coming at a time when marijuana reform laws are gaining serious steam. Twelve states have legalized medical marijuana since 2010. And, of course, recreational adult use has already been legalized in Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Washington, DC.
